Concordia International School Ningbo (CISN) Kindergarten program applies principles of both Project Based Learning and Reggio Emilia methodology. This combination of pedagogies creates a holistic approach to child development. CISN’s philosophy during the early years is to view children as capable individuals, able to construct and drive their learning. CISN’s qualified and experienced teachers act as collaborators and help students reflect on their play and project work to deepen the learning experience. We call this "enhanced play."

Children at CISN learn through the rotation of themes, which are organized into six transdisciplinary areas based on the IB-PYP framework:

  • Language
  • Social Studies
  • Mathematics
  • Science & Technology
  • Arts
  • Personal, Social and Physical Education (PSPE)

As well as enhanced play, CISN emphasizes literacy and the diversity of the world, including the culture of the host country. Kindergarten children will explore the world in English and Chinese languages.

Throughout the year, CISN’s teachers receive ongoing professional development from universities worldwide, ensuring learning is evidence-based and up-to-date.
