We Have Added The myON Digital Library Service to CISN!

We have exciting news for our CISN community!  In order to enhance our reading programs, we have recently added the myON Digital Library service to our repertoire.

MyON digital library is a student-centered, personalized digital library that gives students access to more than 7,000 enhanced digital books in the core collection. Titles are dynamically matched to each individual student’s interests, grade and reading level.  It can be accessed 24/7 via the internet making it available whenever you want to read.

The myON system provides the opportunity for students to read books which have been assigned by their teacher, as well as have access to a giant library of other books sorted by challenge level and interest.

The benefits of reading are too numerous to cover, but here are few:

1、More extensive vocabulary: reading exposes us to new words and phrases that we might not have otherwise come across.

2、Improved literacy: reading, or following along while listening to reading, activates the language centres of the brain and has positive effects on language acquisition.

3、Improved concentration:  reading regularly increases a child’s ability to focus for longer periods of time.

4、Greater creativity and imagination:  reading books allows us to be transported to new places or times sparking our imagination

Adding the myON Digital Library to Concordia’s current reading program is a great benefit to our students, teachers, and parents.  We believe this new system will help everyone’s English reading improve at a much great rate.
