One Book's Adventure at Concordia International School Ningbo

18 Jan 2024

Concordia Library has always been committed to providing students with books in different languages, with global perspectives, and from different backgrounds, in order to cultivate children's empathy, comprehension, and good reading habits, so that they can see the wider world.

In addition to this, we also broaden children's reading horizons, deepen humanism and enhance their humanistic feelings through rich, three-dimensional and multi-dimensional means, such as Reading Week, World Book Day and Book Crossing.

CONCORDIA BOOK CROSSING

The purpose of this activity is to find new owners for the books, and to pass on the warmth and emotion to other readers.

At the same time, our students, parents and teachers participated in this donation activity, and for every book donated, they will get a "book exchange coupon", which is the key to open the door of the "book exchange bazaar".

At the event, children were excited to stop by the stalls to experience the fun of "book hunting": entertaining math fairy tales, philosophical psychological comics, and beautifully illustrated travel picture books. ....... There were countless books donated by Concordians.

Our "donors" also handwrote their recommendations, and after exchanging their favorite books, the children gathered in groups around a book to discuss it, reading and thinking in the cozy winter sunshine. They exchanged books, exchanged ideas, and made friends with books, which is probably the meaning of this activity.

Reading is also a way to see the world

If the library is the cultural landmark and symbol of the school, the book fair is more like a cultural feast, a window to show the campus culture, through which children will see a better world.

Through the library program, Concordia hopes to lead children's exploratory learning, cultivate their ability of independent learning and inquiry, and let them enjoy learning, learn well, and become real lifelong learners.
