Concordia Weekend CCA Courses Open to All Children in Ningbo

27 Mar 2023

How does it help with student development?

In Singapore, the CCA courses has even been defined as a 'national programme' to improve the quality of education for primary and secondary students. In general, primary and secondary schools in Singapore have only half a day of classes and the other half is spent on CCA programmes.

What is the role of the CCA courses in international education?

The CCA courses focuses on an experiential learning approach, allowing students to learn cross-cultural knowledge through observation, games, practice and discussion, improving their hands-on, critical thinking skills while guiding them to experience and appreciate the differences between Chinese and foreign cultures.

In addition, CCA scores play a crucial role when students need to go on to higher education, apply for scholarships or even apply to universities abroad, especially in countries such as the USA. Students with high CCA scores are entitled to 'preferential treatment', which can be very helpful for their future development.

OUR CCA

While Concordia value basic education, we also believe that academic achievement is not everything.

This term, Concordia Kindergarten and Primary Schools are offering over 50 CCA courses for students to choose from. Familiar courses such as sports, visual arts, music performance, STEM, football, basketball, jigsaw puzzles, Go and calligraphy are covered. There are also niche courses that are popular with students such as Khon, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Street Dance, Fitness and Hockey.

For Everyone

From 8th April, we are offering weekend CCA courses for all students on and off campus and all age-eligible students are welcome to enrol.

Fun with Tennis

The tennis class is co-taught by Mr David, the foreign lead teacher of Concordia Kindergarten, and Mr Cherry, a registered Australian Early Childhood Teacher.

The course is a bilingual class for small groups of 6 to 8 students and is suitable for kindergarteners with no basic tennis skills. Both teachers have over three and eight years of bilingual teaching experience respectively, as well as a wealth of experience in the sport of tennis.

Football Academy

Taught by Concordia's star PE teacher Declan, who is certified as a football coach and a veteran English footballer. Students will be led by a foreign teacher to improve their football skills and experience the charm of authentic English football.

Unlike ordinary football hobby classes, the club aims to form a professional student football team, providing students with systematic and formal training, issuing uniforms, and organising matches at the end of the course, as well as awarding certificates of honour, so that children can have their own football team!

Skateboarding

A professional teacher who has coached Ningbo's champion athletes will lead the children to learn the basics of skateboarding and cool moves, and experience the charm of skateboarding together.

Pickleball

Pickleball is a sport played with a racket that emerged from Benbrietch Island in Seattle, USA, and is a mixture of tennis, badminton and table tennis.

News Speculation

Specialist teachers will lead the children in analysing current popular news, understanding the current state of society, learning to distil elements of the news and reading the news.

The children will be able to keep their own ideas and unique perspectives on news events by experiencing the differences in how things are viewed from different dimensions through different perspectives on a news event.

Through exploring thought-provoking issues, children's minds are opened and their expression skills are improved.

Child Art Magician

Mr. Steven has over 20 years of experience teaching art in top international schools.

Mr. Steven is able to bring his hands-on skills and imagination to the classroom, covering a wide range of forms such as sketching, painting, clay, sculpture and printmaking. The bilingual environment also provides an immersive language environment for the children.
