Summer Camp | Exploring Dunhuang Culture and Aesthetics

The theme study of this summer's "Flying Dream · Millennium Covenant" takes the Dunhuang murals of a thousand years ago as the origin, and explores the footprints of human beings for natural exploration, spiritual pursuit, trade exchanges, and scientific pursuit direction.

From the Dunhuang to the Jiuquan satellite launch base, from the ideal of flying to pursue dreams to the feat of flying into space. Here we will experience the mystery of ancient mural painting, feel the prosperity brought by the Silk Road, and understand the national defence significance of rockets as a national weapon!

1. To explore the detailed branches of the study in a task-oriented manner, and to construct the framework of the "millennium script".

2. Pre-learning the cultural customs along the way to improve their cultural adaptability.

3. Training on travelling safety to enhance safety awareness and ability to cope with emergencies.

「Exploring the Silk Road」

Enter Dunhuang Museum, explore Dunhuang history and culture; Visit the colorful Danxia, face the geological wonders.

「Millennium Covenant」

 The color of the Mogao Grottoes has been flowing for thousands of years, and it is still shining. In this "world's top art museum", we will use the clay blank in the collection to copy and restore the clay wall layer of Dunhuang murals in ancient ways, and experience the reproduction and production of the murals in person. 

In addition, we will visit the Jiuquan Satellite launch Base to experience space seed cultivation in the field and take the first step to explore the universe.

「Gobi Hiking」

Go deep into the Gobi land, to a natural exploration of the Gobi desert. Night falls, bonfire party & Starry camping, singing and dancing with family and friends, singing with abandon, is a long-lost happiness and romance.

「Chasing Dreams」

Interact with the "Going Far" Programme of local schools, listen to each other's understanding and expectations of the distance, build friendships, and complete the link with the future. 

* The camp fee includes a donation of 200 rmb Per person: every 30,000 rmb accumulated can benefit a group of local Dunhuang children to realize their travel dreams.

* This research Public Welfare Fund will be donated through the 'Shanghai Adream Charitable Foundation' (Certificate Issuance).

03   Going Further Afield

This in-depth study of Dunhuang starts from experiencing the folk customs of different regions, supplemented by history, humanity, science and technology, military and art painting, and feels the joy and surprise of travel and growth in the historical changes of Hexi.
