Concordia International Chinese Week

08 May 2024

 BACKGROUND

At Concordia, Chinese education has always been our focus. Our curriculum of primary school is based on the national curriculum system, rooted in traditional Chinese culture, while also incorporating the educational philosophy of the IB-PYP international curriculum.

To celebrate International Chinese Language Day and World Book Day, our school has launched a series of activities for "International Chinese Week." Holding the key to Chinese characters, we unlock the doors to world literature. We believe that along with poetry, literature, calligraphy, and other carriers of language and culture, perspectives of our students will become increasingly broad.

01 穿梭文字时空 · 体验奇妙相遇

International Chinese Week

On the day of the role-playing activity, children dress up as their favorite book characters and share the joy of encountering "another self" in the text with teachers and classmates. Through this, they learn to accept and appreciate their limitless possibilities.

02 墨香浸润心灵 · 凝聚文明厚重

International Chinese Week

To lead students in appreciating cultural significance of calligraphy, we organized a school-wide competition for Chinese hard pen calligraphy across all campuses. After the competition in the preliminary rounds, on April 23rd, young artists who advanced to the finals bravely faced challenges and ultimately brought honor to their respective academies.

03 漫步色彩奇境 · 绘出春日妙想

International Chinese Week

After nearly a week of drawing and creation, children blended the "letter" conveyed by ancient Chinese geese and birds with the "painting" on Western postage stamps to produce exclusive Concordia calligraphy postcards.

The displays in the campus showcases not only feature the works of Concordia students but also draw upon everyone's unique springtime creative ideas. Even the children in the kindergarten have handcrafted their imagination into their own Chinese creative bookmarks.

04 竞技以花为令 ·  璀璨协和之星

International Chinese Week

On April 26th, during the Chinese knowledge competition, children participating in activities ranging from "guessing riddles" and "reciting poems," to "guessing idioms from pictures," and even the refined game of Fei Hua Ling derived from Confucianism's concept of "rituals." Each child on stage shone like a brilliant star, bringing glory to their respective academies!

协和愿景

CONCORDIA VISION

At Concordia, we integrate Chinese and Western cultures. By combining forms of creative expression such as poetry and music, we aim to cultivate a strong interest in Chinese learning among children, helping them find more courage and confidence.

We hope that through the activities of this International Chinese Week, every child can discover beauty and poetry in life, truly becoming individuals rich in inner fulfillment and joy.
