Shaping World Talents with Happiness Education in the GPT-4o era

30 May 2024

In the era of GPT-4o, how can we improve the well-being and happiness of students? In a time when emotional issues are prevalent, how can we break free from difficulties and embrace the future?

The Ministry of Education has decided that starting from 2024, May will be designated as the "National Student Mental Health Education Month." At Concordia, based on the concepts of "holistic education" and "lifelong learning," we have always paid great attention to the comprehensive qualities and mental health of students. As a K-12 school, we are committed to incorporating the development of students' "leadership, creativity, and happiness" into our educational blueprint, bringing "happiness potential" to students through psychological courses and personality assessments.

At Concordia, how to carry out happiness education?

School-based curriculum: At Concordia, the SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) course is set as a regular compulsory course. In the once-a-week school-based curriculum of each class, the school combines teaching objectives with students' learning life, family life, and social activities to set various course themes and teaching scenarios. Every Tuesday, there is also one-on-one specialized psychological counseling to address key mental issues. In addition to this, the school has established a "Student Wellbeing" program, focusing on the implementation of "happiness education" from the early childhood stage.Appointments are available for both students and parents

CCA program: In addition to the school-based curriculum, SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) is also incorporated into our CCA (Co-Curricular Activities) program, taught by a national second-level psychological counselor, providing original customized small-class courses to help children learn self-awareness and self-management.

Mental health support system: During the admission testing phase, we use the visual findings of the mental health assessment to formulate a personalized guidance plan for students. For senior students, we use the latest revision of the MHT psychological test scale; for junior students, we use one-on-one communication and self-assessment combined with other assessment to obtain a more objective assessment of the student's psychological state; in their daily study and life, we are equipped with teachers specializing in psychology background to pay full attention to the students, giving them comprehensive and professional psychological support and help.

At the level of home-school co-education, we invite experts in relevant fields for professional training and guidance, hold parent academy lectures, and mobilize the strength of both home and school to enhance the care for the mental health of our students.
